Ad-Aware Plug-Ins - Lavasoft
In a similar spirit to the Translations and Skins community projects for Ad-Aware, we are giving developers the chance to create their very own plug-ins with Ad-Aware for their favorite software. The first one of these plug-ins developed is "Download Guard for Internet Explorer" which you find below. If you are a software developer, read on for more information on how to get started with building your own plug-in. Please note: Plug-ins apply only to the Free and Pro versions of Ad-Aware.
Download Guard for Internet Explorer
Download Guard for Internet Explorer provides an additional layer of protection that lets you download files on Internet Explorer confidently. If the file is malicious, you will simply be notified during the download process so that you can take action before any malware can infiltrate your system.
To install Download Guard, select one of the following three options:
- Install Ad-Aware. During the installation of Ad-Aware, install Download Guard for Internet Explorer by ticking the option in the custom installation.

- Install Ad-Aware. After Ad-Aware has been installed, complete the installation of Download Guard for Internet Explorer by running the installer from
Start → All Programs → Lavasoft → Toolbox → Install Download Guard for Internet Explorer.
...or...
- Install Ad-Aware. After Ad-Aware has been installed, download a separate Download Guard installer below. To complete the installation of Download Guard, run the downloaded executable file and follow the steps in the installation wizard.

What is the API?
